Our Waiheke Story
Energy Alternatives Waiheke was founded in 2006, providing Waiheke home owners with energy efficiency and renewable energy options for residential and commercial applications. In 2010 we realised that solar electricity was the future for bringing NZ into the renewables age. At the same time, we needed to find a more efficient way to heat water, and we did!
We co-created a water heating product that saves New Zealanders more than 65% of their current hot water costs! Our system is now being used at the heart of affordable home energy systems across Waiheke Island and NZ.
Today, we partner with many well-established and reputable product providers, working actively with industry organisations to develop, supply and install the best products with best practices in Waiheke homes and businesses.
The heart of your affordable Waiheke home energy system
Our all-in-one hot water heat pumps use the ambient air to help create heat inside the water heater cylinder. We’ve then incorporated the element to sit inside the cylinder, so that there is the ability to boost the water temperature if required. As a smart unit, there is also a 3-stage timer within the control panel, meaning you not only save money in heating water, however you also have control to operate the unit, and can set the unit to function during off-peak power times in Waiheke.
